Trauma Center Breaks 200 Patient-Mark: at 204 and counting…

Hospital estimates were for TCTC to treat on average 42 patients/month. The real average is 92 patients monthly. So far the TCTC team saved 96% of all traumatic injuries that have entered our doors, far above the national average. St. Lucie County residents now have a 50% better chance of surviving a traumatic injury due to the Trauma Center’s program.

Lawnwood Regional’s Treasure Coast Trauma Center Celebrates our 500th Trauma Patient

Our 500th trauma patient is 79-year-old Frantisci Spacil. Mr. Spacil fell off a high ladder while installing gutters on his house in Port St.Lucie. While being diagnosed in our state-of-the-art, 64 -slice CT scanner, Trauma Surgeons Dr. Robert O’Connor, our Chief of Neurosurgery, Dr. Victor DaSilva diagnosed a potentially-paralyzing neck injury the doctors were able to quickly treat.

Life Alliance Recognizes Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute for Outstanding Record for Organ Donation

Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute has played an integral role in assisting hospitals throughout the nation with organ donations, and is being honored by the US Secretary of Health and Human Services, and Life Alliances for the Gift of Life Donation Initiative. We are the only hospital in South Florida and the Treasure Coast to receive such an honor.

H1N1 Flu Forces Visitor Policy Changes at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center

A new policy is in effect limiting Intensive Care Unit visitation and restricting child visitors at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute as its staff and public health officials further an initiative to protect patients from the novel H1N1 influenza virus, commonly known as swine flu.
