Ft. Pierce, Florida – Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, a 380-bed facility, will receive more than $100 million to expand the pre-operative and recovery areas which will triple the size of the existing rooms, add three operating rooms and 32 beds in the medical surgical unit. The expansion project will also create more parking in addition to other enhancements. When completed, Lawnwood will be a 424-bed facility and the hospital will be able to accommodate the growing needs of surrounding communities while enhancing the patient experience.

Other highlights of the capital investments at Lawnwood include:
A new Adolescent Behavioral Health Program. The program, which costs $5 million, features an environment where young people suffering from serious behavioral health issues can receive supportive inpatient treatment. The new 12 bed unit, located at Lawnwood Pavilion is scheduled to open by September and includes both private and semi-private rooms, indoor and outdoor therapeutic group and activity areas, as well as a pool and gymnasium.
Our Adolescent Program is designed for youth ages 13-17. According to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life
- Freestanding Emergency Department in Vero Beach. In an effort to expand access to high-quality care to surrounding communities, Lawnwood will be opening a $10 million FSED in Vero Beach that includes 12 beds, a trauma bay along with pediatric rooms and a psych safe room. Featuring the latest technology, the FSED will be equipped with a 32 slice CT scanner, a mobile ultrasound and x-ray.
